I started out my care career as a Nursing Assistant in an Acute Admissions ward in Monklands Hospital, Airdrie. This is where my passion for Mental Health began. After working there for 5 years, I left as I wanted to care for my grandmother who had MND, at this point she was deteriorating rapidly and required more care. I cared for my Grandmother 7 days per week, as well as myself, she also had care staff going in every morning. My Gran built up such a lovely relationship with one of the support staff, this is when I decided, this was what I really wanted to do. After my gran passed away, I joined a private care provider within the North Lanarkshire area as a Support Worker. I quickly built my confidence up and within 6 months I became Team Leader. After 1 year I was successful in gaining a position in the office environment as a Rota Co Ordinator. I worked as a Rota Co Ordinator for 2 years before moving in to Management. I have now been a Registered Manager for 9 years.
I have 3 children which is my main focus at the weekend. My days off I spend all my time with my family. I do love walking, being a football mum. For myself, I like to go for nice meals, spa breaks and go to the gym when possible.
